Pinewood Toronto at TIFF

20th September 2018

Pinewood featured prominently at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), hosting and supporting a number of high profile events.

Key events included the Taika Waitiki Masterclass. This prolific director, writer, actor, and comedian’s work first came into the spotlight with his Oscar-nominated short Two Cars, One Night. Now part of Marvel Cinematic Universe, he directed Thor: Ragnarok in 2017 bringing his independent spirit and self-deprecating Kiwi wit. Moderated by TIFF's Artistic Director, Cameron Bailey, Taika generously shared his life in front of and behind the camera.

Pinewood were proud to be associated and to have worked with several films screened at the Festival including:

  • Roma - foley and sound mix facilitated at Pinewood.
  • Where Hands Touch - dailies, picture post, full sound post and deliverables.
  • Farming - delivered full picture and audio post on the production.

Pinewood Toronto Studios celebrated a great year of production in the city at its annual reception at the SohoMet. Guests included TIFF filmmakers as well as producers and industry attending the Festival. New General Manager, Geoff Grant and shareholder Alfredo Romano shared news on our expansion plans and the active year ahead.

Pinewood Toronto also supported the XOTO Lounge hosted by the City of Toronto, the Canadian Film Centre BBQ as well as the annual Women in Film & TV Toronto TIFF Gala.
