Pinewood's Creative Audio team created a new audio experience for Tom Clancy's Division 2, released worldwide on March 15th 2019.
Simon Koudriavtsev, Audio Director for Division 2, and Glen Gathard, Head of Creative Audio worked together for the audio to bridge the gap between the games and cinematic industries. They borrowed the best aspects of both industries to create the sound, including sound mapping the whole of Washington DC, casting 183 actors to ensure authentic accents and dialects, recording individual audio for every single firearm available in game, and going to Chernobyl to capture a setting with no presence of human life. They also moved away from using static mics, and used ADR so that the actors could move and perform. The final mix was completed in Dolby Atmos at Pinewood which made a significant difference to the end result.
