The Iron Lady

The Iron Lady, a film which tells the compelling story of Margaret Thatcher and stars Academy Award-winners Meryl Streep as Lady Thatcher and Jim Broadbent as Denis Thatcher, shot at Pinewood Studios. The film took a number of stages at the Studios to build some amazing sets including the interior of the House of Commons. Stages included F, H, and R, the Small Process Stage and even one of our dedicated TV Studios, TV One.

The film’s producer, Damian Jones (The History Boys, Adulthood), commented: “Shooting The Iron Lady at Pinewood Studios was an immensely enjoyable experience – the service and facilities made available to us were first class and we look forward to returning for our next production.”

The Iron Lady concerns power and the price that is paid for power, and is a surprising and intimate portrait of an extraordinary and complex woman. On starting principle photography Meryl Streep commented: “The prospect of exploring the swathe cut through history by this remarkable woman is a daunting and exciting challenge. I am trying to approach the role with as much zeal, fervour and attention to detail as the real Lady Thatcher possesses – I can only hope my stamina will begin to approach her own!”

The film is a Pathé, Film4, UK Film Council presentation with the participation of Canal+ and Cine Cinema in association with Goldcrest Film Production LLP of a DJ Films Production.
