The Christmas Candle

The Christmas Candle is based on the novel by bestselling author, Max Lucado and co presented by Pinewood Pictures. The film shot in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and in the Isle of Man, with offices at Shepperton Studios.

It tells the story of the small village of Gladbury, legend says that every twenty-five years an angel visits the village candlemaker and touches a single candle. Whoever lights the Christmas Candle receives a miracle on Christmas Eve.

But in 1890, all that is about to change. David Richmond, a skeptical, young minister, arrives in town and Gladbury's humble candlemaker, Edward Haddington must fight to preserve his family's legacy. When the Christmas Candle goes missing, the miraculous and the human collide in the most astonishing Christmas the town of Gladbury has ever seen.

Directed by John Stephenson and produced by Tom Newman and Hannah Leader, The Christmas Candle stars Susan Boyle, who came second in series 3 of Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, Hans Matheson, Samantha Barks and Lesley Manville.

It is an Impact and Big Book Media Production. Pinewood Pictures will distribute in the UK. Steve Christian, Ivan Dunleavy, Huw Penallt Jones and Brian Lockhart are executive producers on the picture.
