Shepperton's location is alongside the River Ash and a woodland area which is council land. This river leads just a few miles from the River Thames. With the River next door, the outside grounds of Shepperton have been useful in filming memorable features such as Sanders of the River and The African Queen, which both used the picturesque River Ash in some scenes.
