Whilst shooting to film and tape is likely to continue for the foreseeable future, we recognise the impact that advancing technology is having in all areas of media production.

Consequently we have developed a number of bespoke workflows that support all disk-based camera systems – in either 2D/3D format.

Modern filmmaking has revolutionised the way in which rushes can be viewed – and the speed with which they can be made ready for viewing after acquisition.

Offline editing, conform and online editing

Offline Editing

A data and time efficient method of compiling picture content by editing at a reduced resolution. Choices made during this process are logged in an Edit Decision List (EDL) before handover to Conform and Online editorial.

Whilst we routinely support Avid, Final Cut, 2D and 3D workflows we are also able to accommodate those requiring less commonplace editorial systems.

CGI/VFX
Expand

The quality of UK based Computer Generated Imagery and Visual FX talent is a significant draw to productions choosing to shoot and post in this country. The heart of the UK’s CGI/VFX community is located in Soho, Central London.

Shrinking production timelines can dictate that shoot and post schedules overlap – with the two operations happening remotely from one another. This creates a significant logistical challenge for the filmmaker wishing to oversee both.

A DI is produced as the result of digitising film in order to allow subsequent 2D and 3D digital processes - such as the insertion of CGI/VFX shots, Grading and Mastering for multi-format release.

If you’re shooting on film – whether on our Stages or on location - our Scanning Facility can bridge your traditional film negative or print up to 8k Digital Data.

Whether you require a one-light, best-light or a full colour correction service on single shots or entire movies or projects, you can be confident that your creative and technical goals are realised at Pinewood.

We provide a fully calibrated workflow incorporating 3D lookup tables for film emulation (LUTs) if required working with both monitors and projection all of which can be linked back to our screening services for full review.

We understand the challenges and pitfalls of 3D stereoscopic post-production. From the benefits of working either parallel or converged, to syncing and multiplexing left and right eyes, through to convergence pulling, editing and grading.

We have screening facilities that allow you to view your 3D material in a cinema environment at all stages of the process from rushes and dailies review, through to editing and sound mixing and after full DCP creation.

Picture Post processes most often happen in relatively small suites using screens at close proximity to the creative and technical operators.

Therefore, when dailies, online editorial work, CGI/VFX shots, graded output and final program is reviewed, most filmmakers wish to sign off their work in a space that mirrors the theatres in which an audience will see it.

QA & QC
Expand

Quality Assurance and Quality Control are vital checks during the making and finalising of your content to ensure that it reaches the highest creative and technical level.

We offer both standard and bespoke workflows that combine people and technology to best suit your requirements.

Physical Asset Transfer and Electronic Asset Migration services

Physical Asset Transfer

Content owners face ongoing challenges in order to commercialise their archived assets. Whilst carefully controlled storage conditions can help to stabilise historic media, physical assets in particular do deteriorate over time.

Many of our clients ask us to regularly assess their archived media in order to recommend the best strategy to preserve it – and consequently to enable it to be appreciated by a new audience.

There are myriad ways in which electronic content can be consumed – from Digital Cinema through broadcast, DVD, Blu-ray and Video On Demand.

All require that media be delivered to exacting standards - in varied formats, file-types and compression rates to suit – and to deadline.
