Sound Editor

Purpose of Role:

Reporting to Editorial Operations Manager, the purpose of the role is to maintain a high level of Sound Editorial work in three keys areas:

  1. Sound Editorial/Load
  2. Quality Control
  3. Deliverable manufacture

Duties will include:

  • Liaising daily with Sound Edit team members to work to agreed schedule and to communicate changes in personal work schedule to all relevant parties.
  • Pro-actively engaging with Sound Edit and Sound Mix teams to anticipate evolving schedule.
  • Ensure in-house database (DFD) and internal communication systems are always up-to-date.
  • Timely production of all assets as defined (but not limited to) the activities below:
    • Loading – Tracklay audio, syncing dialogue, tuning vocals, following prescripted guidelines, trouble-shooting sessions - all within defined time parameters and to the required standard.
    • QCing – Quality control, listening to mixed elements and reporting relevant errors using appropriate audio industry terminology. To be completed to the required standard within defined time parameters.
    • Deliverable – manufacturing all client-specified delivery requirements within agreed deadlines and to the required standard.
  • To supply the very highest standard of service to clients.
  • To provide day-to-day editorial support to a busy audio post facility and its team members.
  • To keep up to date with latest audio post production industry innovations.

Person Specification

Job Skills:

  • Accomplished Pro Tools user.
  • Vocal tuning experience.
  • Previous editorial experience in a sound post production facility.
  • Detailed understanding of sample rate converting, bit depth and sample rates.
  • Good knowledge of international TV and Film picture frame rates (PAL / NTSC / BD / Film).
  • Experience of electronic and physical media transfer systems and hardware.
  • Good understanding of older physical media formats (DA88, 35mm Mag etc.).
  • Must have an understanding of acoustics and an expert knowledge of post production sound equipment, recording process, post-recording processes and procedures, both analogue and digital.
  • Must be able to quickly identify and solve audio and video-related problems.

IT Skills:

  • Good working knowledge of databases.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Mac literate.
  • Understanding of how to set up and troubleshoot a Pro Tools system.
  • Understanding of networks and servers advantageous.

  • Excellent written skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
  • Must be confident communicator as will be dealing with internal/external personnel at all levels.

Purpose of role:

An experienced industrial/commercial Electrician to assist in our Facility Services Department at Shepperton Studios. The work is varied and the successful candidate must have a good working knowledge of 230v & 400v systems and will be expected to carry out electrical installation & maintenance work complying with the requirements of the 17th Edition IET wiring Regulations.

The Electrician reports to the Facilities Services Supervisor and will install, repair and maintain Electrical systems and fixtures in any of the Studios buildings and stages.

Objectives and Accountabilities:

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • To carry out electrical installations and upgrade company facilities.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify potential hazards or defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Cover Standbys on shoot days.
  • Assist other trades when required.
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate by line management.

Group Supply Chain Manager

Purpose of role:

Reporting to the Finance Director the purpose of the role is to impact the overall success of the Group by implementing and monitoring cost control measures and gaining advantages through building solid relationships and partnerships with internal and external functions. The candidate will work to understand the goals of internal functions to help improve efficiency and develop better processes to ensure strategic goal are met. Maintaining customer satisfaction is the ultimate goal.

Work Experience Terms

Unfortunately, we cannot offer work experience or placements to students aged 16 and below who have not started studying towards A-Levels (or an equivalent level 3 course).

Work Experience and Shadowing Scheme

Work experience will be offered to students aged 16 years and over who are studying A-Levels (or equivalent), who can demonstrate an understanding of the work carried out by Pinewood Studios Group and the benefits they would gain from taking part in the scheme.

The work experience will be one week in duration, with each day spent in a different department to gain an understanding of how a studio complex is maintained and operated.

Shadowing Scheme

Our new shadowing scheme will be offered from September 2013 and will be available to those studying in the areas listed below. The shadowing scheme will consist of 5 days unpaid direct work with the specific departments requested. Please note: If you have not studied, or are not currently studying related subjects then please do not apply for the Shadowing Scheme.

Work Placement

Placements will be offered from one to six months in duration, and will be based specifically within one department.

Applicants must be studying a degree (or equivalent) relevant to the department they have applied for, and have completed their first year of study.
