Pinewood recently announced that Lindsay MacKay’s Wet Bum will be debuting at this year’s Tiff as part of the Discovery programme on Sunday 7th September. The film has now also been selected to feature in TIFF’s Next Wave programme.
The film, which shot at Pinewood Toronto Studios, was the first film to benefit from The Pinewood Toronto Emerging Filmmakers Initiative, which aims to support one or two projects per year.
The Next Wave programme features a committee made up of 12 teens, aged 15 to 18, who select film from the festival which they think will appeal to younger audiences.
Wet Bum stars Kenneth Welsh, Leah Pinsent, Julia Sarah Stone (The Killing) and Craig Arnold, and tells the story of a 14-year-old girl forced to work in a nursing home. As she struggles to make sense of growing up, she comes to learn about growing old.
