Pinewood Indomina Studios recently supported the British 5K – the first ever themed fun run in the Dominican Republic, which took place on Saturday 3 March.
The event was held by the British Embassy and promoted sports, culture and the bilateral trade links that exist between the Dominican Republic and the UK – which have been strengthened in recent times by the new agreement to build Pinewood Indomina Studios in the region.
The central theme of the day was to promote the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics which are taking place at the end of July in the UK. Around 1,000 runners took part, running five kilometres through various British ‘landmarks’ such as Tower Bridge and Big Ben that were mocked up for the day.
The studios were also part of a commercial exhibition that took place alongside the run. Other British companies to be represented included Jaguar, Mini Cooper, British Airways and Land Rover.
